The truck has a CARFAX clean title guarantee. This is a very rare vehicle that almost never come up for sale, especially with such low miles, 80K, and condition. 1 Owner NY vehicle. We have the initial original title. Special Edition truck, only 200 units made worldwide in Tangiers Orange, which eventually became the official color for the G4 Challenge run. Our shop specializes in older vintage vehicles, recondition/restore them into perfect condition, as close to new as possible both cosmetically and mechanically. The vehicles we take on all have the potential for future value increase as time goes on. We have too many projects going on and decided to give this one to someone else who realizes the opportunity and the cool factor value given at such low price. The main work this vehicle needs involves an engine rebuild or replacement. I test drove the vehicle myself multiple times, it handled and ran great; however, at higher rpm it had a lower engine knock, which was a common problem on these V6 engines. We already removed the engine/transmission together as one unit from the vehicle. We will provide that with the vehicle if needed. I couldn’t find any other issues with the vehicle during test. Transmission shifted as supposed to. It’s a really well preserved vehicle, minimal wear to detect. Exterior is in great condition, no damages to speak of, few scuffs, nothing that can’t be reconditioned easily. Here are some cool facts about the First Gen Freelander. The vehicle had more than sixteen patented features, including the IRD or Intermediate Reduction Drive, which acted as a front differential and fixed ratio transfer; the VCU or viscous-coupling, which reacts to the differing rotational speed of the prop shafts, allowing varying torque across itself; the Hill Descent Control system, which was then implemented in the rest of the Land Rover range and even in the first generation BMW X5. BMW was the parent company of Rover Group at the time of introduction of this model. Land Rover created the G4 Challenge to succeed the Camel Trophy Endurance event. It was a modernized event with a series of stages held over the course of a month in Australia, South Africa, and in the USA – NY, Las Vegas and Moab Desert. Along each stage of the way, Land Rover supplied Tangiers Orange-painted vehicles from the new Range Rover all the way down to the Freelander. 30 Freelanders were prepared and used in the Stage 1 only in New York. The SUVs were prepared for duty by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations with features such as additional recovery gear, snorkels, and body protection. The Freelander was still a fairly new model in North America when the G4 edition arrived at the 2003 New York International Auto Show. The Freelander G4 came fully kitted with a number of Land Rover’s accessories, including a roof basket, a brush guard, and taillight guards, plus seat covers. Nationwide delivery can be arranged.
